Its been pretty full on year so far at Marist. We had athletics day, swimming sports and our Inaugural Mass all in the first term. They went really well, except our sports days are probably nowhere near as hard out as the McEvedy Shield comp sounds, but the egg and spoon races can get pretty intense.
The Monday assemblies which we organise are definite highlights. Father Mark and Father Rowan were lucky enough to catch me in an amazing bunny suit when they visited.
6 of us made it to the Easter event, which was a whole lot of fun. We loved celebrating Easter with everyone, and catching up. We stayed at an apartment for an extra crazy few days, so thanks to Huw and Jeromes brother for the get-togethers. Oh and to the Wellington boys that took us sight seeing. Although visiting Te Papa with no sleep does not go down well. We got home and slept for a week to recover. The next get-together will have to be in Auckland. This term we’ve got the school ball, exams and stage challenge, so it will be just as busy. We’re really enjoying it though.
Hope everyone is well,
more news soon.

Just a note of thanks to all who made the effort to get to Silverstream for the Easter Event. The Silverstream men were great hosts, even to turning on a winning rugby game for us on the Saturday afternoon. About 60 students turned up on Good Friday, as well as Hannah, Heath, Mark, and the JC Colin Team. Highlights for me were the outdoor Stations of the Cross created by the students. They took each Station and gave it as modern a meaning and interpretation as they could. They were extremely moving and very, very creative. The Vigil throughout the night was a test of perseverance (courage stretched out for those who have forgotten!) and then the Baptism ceremony on the steps of the Chapel was a memorable event as well. Thanks to the group of musicians and singers who added such life and talent to the gathering, and it was great to have Peter Browne from Silverstream on the keyboard through the night as well.
The other good thing from my point of view was to catch up with so many, hear how you are going in your leadership roles, and just have some time together agin. You people add more life and energy to the young Church than you realise!
I hope all is going well. Those we haven’t been to see yet we hope to visit soon. Keep up the great work. Remember, none of is is as smart as all of us.

Someone please let us know what is going on at Roncalli (a bit of boasting about Bishop Lyons maybe?), St Bede’s (Shiela Wynn), Town (Old Boy’s Cup), Stream, Hato Paora, St John’s, Marist, Challenge, Aquinas and Pompallier. I know there’s lots of good stuff happening, but not everyone else does. So let’s hear about it

Hi Everyone. I have just finished a visit to the MYL people in Tasmania, Sam, Gerogie, Caitlyn, Nick, Amy, Jack, Alex and Alex. They are doing a great job and there is a great spirit among them, among their Student Rep Council and in fact the whole school. The school is perched on the cliff tops over looking the Bass Strait and is a magnificent site. They have a new gym which is the biggest and best I have seen in a school. They try to keep in touch with some of you by texting, but they also use the website, so make sure you post a few more messages about what you are doing in your schools so they can keep up. Tas is a fair way removed from the rest of you.

Best wishes

I hope that you had a great time at your Marist Youth Leader course. Feel free to talk about what you learned and how you hope to put some of the MYL ideas into practice. Look forward to hearing from you. Fr Rowan
